The Kieler Woche is an annual sailing regatta, considered to be one of the largest sailing events in the world.

Click here (http://www.kieler-woche.de/segeln/index.php) for an overview of when the various categories sail. From Olympic boat classes such as ‘RS: X’ and ‘Solar’ through to international classes like ‘Flying Dutchman’, ‘Laser radial M’ and many more.

Sailing fans can get involved during Kieler Woche too. Sailing camp 24/7 is just perfect if you like to feel the wind in your hair and the surf on your skin. Water babies big and small can learn to sail or take a taster trip. For more information, click here. Want to experience a regatta up close? You can book accompanied trips here.

There’s also a program of musical entertainment: Kieler Woche has a comprehensive programme featuring more than 2,100 individual events, including performances by international groups and artists such as Nina Hagen and rock band Selig.

The tall ships parade, which takes place on the last Saturday of Kieler Woche, is considered to be a maritime highlight. Here, too, you can take an accompanied trip and get right in the midst of it all!

Directions from GHOTEL hotel & living Kiel.

The event takes place from the top of the harbour at Hörn, along the water and up to the ‘Kiellinie’ waterfront walkway and even beyond. It’s best to take public transport, since parking is limited and subject to charges.

The fastest route is to take bus 22 or 81 to the main station/Sophienhof (journey time approx. 13-20 minutes).

At the side of the main station nearest the harbour, Kaistraße runs north-east from Hörn, where the majority of events are held.
